My research interests mainly centre around statistical natural language processing, specifically integrating machine learning techniques with traditional hand-crafted methodologies. So far I have worked within the framework of Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG), which is a unification-based system of syntax.
My current research focuses on statistical generation from LFG f-structures and the reranking of generation output from a large-scale hand-crafted German Lexical Functional Grammar written within the Xerox Linguistic Environment (XLE) framework. Previously I have worked on a method of statistical realization from LFG approximations.
