Workshop on Interactive Visual Analysis for Natural Language Processing 2010
Call for Participation: Data/Methods Session at the IVA4NLP Workshop
*** Abstracts are due by August 6th ***
We are looking for participants of IVA4NLP to present some examples
from the data set(s) they are working on. Knowledge of the data sets
and the interesting (NLP) problems they provide is essential for
developing a meaningful visualization methodology. In turn,
participants from the visualization community can propose possible
visualizations. We hope that this interaction leads to (i) a better
understanding of the data, (ii) improved and more meaningful
visualizations, and (iii) a new way of doing NLP in a more interactive
and visual fashion.
The format of the 30 minute time slot is flexible, but should
generally include a 20 minute presentation of the data with examples
and demonstration of visualization currently used, if any. The
remaining 10 minutes will be used for discussion and proposals and
brainstorming of other possible techniques. SPP 1335 members who are
also presenting their progress within the SPP should try to keep the
overlap of the two talks to a minimum.
Participants interested in presenting (and getting feedback on) their
data should submit a short abstract briefly describing the data, the
research problems that are being addressed, and what visualization has
been done thus far, if any.
