TCL offers one doctoral position (Digital Humanities) and one postdoctoral position (Machine Learning)

Doctoral position

We are looking to hire a doctoral student in computational linguistics
for the newly funded DFG project on analyzing the dramas of Calderón
de la Barca. The project will be carried out in collaboration between
the chair of Theoretical Computational Linguistics at the University
of Stuttgart (Sebastian Padó) and the chair of Romance Philology at
the University of Tübingen (Hanno Ehrlicher). The start date is spring
2023.

Your background

* Master's degree in (computational) linguistics,
  computer science, digital humanities or related field
* Strong experience in computational analysis of text
* Knowledge of Spanish, ideally including historical stages
* Ideally, experience with interdisciplinary collaboration
  in the digital humanities, in particular between
  computational linguistics and literary studies

The position

* 3-year doctoral researcher position at 85% TV-L 13,
  approx. 40-45kE/year before taxes, see [1] for details
* The goal of the project is to identify the role of
  recurring patterns -- on various linguistic levels --
  in Spanish 'siglo de oro' dramas by Calderón de la Barca,
  in particular with regard to productivity.

Postdoc position

The research group of Theoretical Computational Linguistics at the
Institute of Natural Language Processing, University of Stuttgart, is
looking to hire a postdoctocal researcher in (structured) machine
learning as a linking element between various research topics in the
group (start date: spring 2023).

Your background

* PhD in machine learning or related area
* Experience with structured prediction
  (in particular on graph outputs)
* Experience with, or interest in, solving
  NLP challenges with machine learning methods

The position

* 3-year postdoctoral researcher position at 100% TV-L 13,
  approx. 45-50kE/year before taxes, see [1] for details
* We support your effort to strengthen your profile as an
  independent researcher and encourage you to develop own
  research plans and submit grant proposals
* Goal: better understand the (structural) relations among
  NLP tasks better and find identify (machine learning)
  problem formulations 
* can affiliate with existing projects such as
  MARDY [2] or CEAT [3]
