Patient language analysis using NLP to capture expectation-based treatment outcomes 

Patient expectations can positively or negatively influence the success of medical treatments – this is known as the placebo or nocebo effect. In the PLACEBO project, we are developing artificial intelligence methods to automatically recognize such treatment expectations in texts from social media. This gives us new insights into patients' perspectives, which are often overlooked in traditional studies. The results can be used to improve communication in healthcare and promote personalized treatment approaches.
