How to reach the Institute for Natural Language Processing

Address of the Institute

Universität Stuttgart
Institut für Maschinelle Sprachverarbeitung
Pfaffenwaldring 5 b
70569 Stuttgart

Please note:

Due to the current situation of infection prevention, the Institute has largely converted the secretarial services to work from the home office. Therefore, secretarial services should no longer be requested without prior appointment. When you need to use a service please contact the responsible office by email. Wherever possible, we will try to run the workflow processes electronically. When necessary, a personal appointment can be arranged in advance.

Our current policy is to have one secretariat open for a few hours every day. However, it is important that these hours are not to be understood as general office hours, but they are meant for the work that can only be carried out on site and to hold pre-scheduled appointments that are unavoidable. We should all adapt our working habits accordingly.

The IMS is situated in the Research Center for Computer Science (Forschungszentrum Informatik, or FZI) on the university campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen.

The address is: Pfaffenwaldring 5 b, 70569 Stuttgart.

The IMS can be reached by S-Bahn from Stuttgart main station (lines S1, S2, S3; stop Universität, 10 min from main station). The trains depart every 10 minutes during the day and every 5 minutes during peak hours.

If you arrive at Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof by train, take the S-Bahn S1 (direction Herrenberg), S2 (direction Filderstadt) or S3 (direction Flughafen) to the S-Bahn station "Universität" (10 minutes). You can find the corresponding S-Bahn line plan here.

Please note that you can buy tickets to the university using the DB long-distance service. With a so-called City-Ticket the journey between main station and university on the day of arrival and on the day of departure is included. In the tariff system of the VVS (Verkehrsverbund Stuttgart) you need a ticket for one zone from the city centre.

Several buses stop at the university (Nr. 82; 84; 91; 92; 746; 747; 748 - and the airport feeder road X60). Here, too, it is best to consult the pages of the transport authority.

And if you are lost, a taxi (phone +49-711-566061) will bring you to us (Pfaffenwaldring 5 b, 70569 Stuttgart).

Verkehrsverbund Stuttgart (VVS)

If you are travelling to us by car, the map below will help you find your way around. Coming from the motorway, drive towards Stuttgart-Vaihingen (A831) at the Stuttgart junction. Take the exit »Universität«.

Take the S-Bahn S2 (direction Schorndorf) or S3 (direction Backnang) from Stuttgart Airport to the S-Bahn station »Universität« (approx. 15 minutes).
