Bringing Artificial Intelligence into Vocational Education

July 20, 2020 / Antje Schweitzer

New joint project of the IMS and the Institute for Software Engineering

The two institutes will be collaborating as part of a consortium including the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Baden-Württemberg, bringing their expert knowledge to curricula in vocational training. Both institutes will work together with universities, Fraunhofer, further industry partners, and Balingen Vocational School, to transfer university level teaching content to vocational training for current and future qualification programs. The focus will be on modern digital techniques such as A.I. based learning assistants for blended and online learning as well as interactive and adaptive learning environments and visualization.

The consortium was successful amongst 176 competitors in the government's InnoVET program, as one out of 17 successful applicants.
