Hans Kamp has been elected a member of the
American Academy of Arts and Sciences. According to the Academy's charter from 1780, their
goal is to " cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honor, dignity
and happiness of a free, independent and virtuous people".
The honour of being elected a member is only rarely granted to non-Americans. The ceremonial
appointment will take place in Cambridge, Massachussetts, in October 2015.
